Alternative teaser poster concept for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl.
The concept behind this piece was to create a teaser style poster that doesn't showcase any of the actors faces.
I decided to highlight the scene where Barbossa reaches his hand out into the moonlight to reveal his cursed bones, and translated that into the poster.
I decided to highlight the scene where Barbossa reaches his hand out into the moonlight to reveal his cursed bones, and translated that into the poster.
To achieve the look of the hand I used a skeleton hand as a base, and added various textures, such as moss and dirt, to match the rotten flesh look of the original. For the flesh I used an array of meat textures, using a clipping mask, I hand painted it on. This was created entirely in Adobe Photoshop.
